The Eye Center of North Florida is Northwest Florida’s premier eye care facility. Our 25,000 square foot complex includes private patient consultation, research facility, and state of the art surgery center. Our satellite offices located in Chipley, Panama City Beach and St Joe serve many of the panhandles surrounding counties.
Our nine board certified physicians are specialists. We offer expertise in all areas of optometry and ophthalmology. We have more than one hundred highly trained Eye Center employees dedicated to serving all the specialty needs of our patients.
We have the region's largest single specialty surgery center. Other out patient surgery centers divide their time between eyes, ears, bones, feet, and every other surgical specialty. We perform only eye surgery. It allows us to attract the finest specialty nurses and support staff in the region. We invest only in state of the art equipment and have the latest versions of phacoemulsification devices, Nd-YAG lasers, SLT glaucoma lasers, argon diabetic photocoagulation lasers, cosmetic resurfacing lasers, LASIK refractive surgery with laser flap management, presbyopia laser correction and all of the most recent diagnostic imaging devices available in ophthalmology today.
Our facility offers the largest variety of glasses in the region including the highly sophisticated brand name designs. While most optical retail facilities utilize sales personnel to measure and fit your glasses, the Eye Center maintains eight licensed opticians who understand the science of optics and refraction, and have the desire to deliver personal and professional service. Our in house laboratory has the most recent technology to manufacture custom designs and modifications to suit your individual needs in frame design. We predictably create each lens to exceed the highest tolerances.
The Eye Center also has a dedicated contact lens department. We stock and fit spherical designs, custom astigmatic, and the latest corneal reshaping contact lenses that reduce your nearsighted refractive error by wearing lenses only while you sleep. We also offer surgically implanted contact lenses for those who would like to fix and forget that they were nearsighted without having refractive corneal surgery.
The Eye Center also offers the only Low Vision Rehabilitation services in the region. While most physicians can only treat eye diseases, we realize that visual loss is a devastating condition that affects all aspects of our patient’s lives. It can limit the patient’s ability to maintain independence, operate motor vehicles, and interact socially with peers at the time of their lives when they have the time and deserve it the most.
Our specialty physicians, occupational therapist, and technical staff understand the needs of the visually challenged. We trial frame refract for special needs glasses and we stock all the latest low vision aids and enhanced lighting devices. We calibrate each tool for the specific patient need and working distance. Our patients experience individual training to insure their success and maximize their independence. Whether playing the piano or using a personal computer, we have the help to keep our patients independent.
We also travel to our patient’s homes to evaluate their ability to safely cook, ambulate, and perform their personal needs. We meet with family members to create a team approach to achieve prolonged independence. We also utilize the Division of Blind services and help recruit service clubs to help with the financial challenges of our patients.
We take pride in serving our patients and the community. We sponsor community educational seminars and support groups. We recruit the finest specialists in our community including internists, neurologists, endocrinologists, psychologists, and social workers to help us in caring for the many complex needs of our patients. The Eye Center participates in Health Fairs and regularly lectures to service clubs, senior centers, and health care facilities. Our physicians offer continuing education credits to our local physicians, nurses, and technical health care providers. Several of our physicians lecture at national professional academies and participate in pharmaceutical and surgical clinical trials allowing early expertise in ophthalmologic treatment.
