In 1980, Dr. David Miller obtained his D.D.S. from the University of Illinois College of Dentistry. He practiced for a year in the Bay area before moving to Sacramento, joining the city’s oldest continuously operating practice, where he remains today.
Dr. Miller was the first general dentist from Sacramento to complete his course work in Advanced Restorative Dentistry at the prestigious L. D. Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education in Florida. Through his general dentistry practice, Dr. Miller belongs to various professional groups including the:
Besides membership, Dr. Miller has also earned advanced standing in other prestigious professional organizations. He has earned Fellowships in the:
- Academy of General Dentistry
- American Orthodontic Society
- International College of Oral Implantologists
- American Association for Functional Orthodontics
Dr. Miller has achieved Diplomate or Master status in the following organizations:
- American Academy of Pain Management
- American Academy of Head, Neck and Facial Pain
- International College of Cranio-Mandibular Orthopedics
- American Board of Orofacial Pain (the independent certifying body for the proposed specialty in the diagnosis and treatment of TMJ/Orofacial Pain)
With these honors, Dr. Miller has completed the "Grand Slam of TMJ," meaning he holds advanced standing in the four major TMJ organizations.
Besides his activity in these groups, Dr. Miller also spends his time writing and lecturing. He has published articles on the many aspects of TMD and chronic head and neck pain. He recently published "Low Velocity Impact, Vehicular Damage and Passenger Injury," a critically acclaimed paper on the biomechanics of motor vehicle accident trauma. He has also spoken about these issues at national dental and medical/legal conferences.
Dr. Miller is a firm believer in continuing education, having taken more than 3,500 hours of advanced training since dental school. He also acts as an expert dental consultant in general dentistry and TMD. Dr. Miller is also a Board Examiner for the American Board of Craniofacial Pain.
